Old news? No way! The legendary »Ice Race« in Zell am See returns. Finally! Otto Mathé or Richard von Frankenberg are of course no longer there, as they were between 1937 and 1974, when the spectacular competition on the frozen lake and the Alpine airfield made thousands of motorsport fans forget the bitter cold. Now the comeback, initiated by Vinzenz Greger and Ferdinand Porsche.
It goes without saying that Porsche is sending a selection of its best sports cars into the race for this occasion. Not only touring cars and the new 911 are therefore on the sliding track, but also historic vehicles such as the 550 Spyder that Ferry Porsche used to own and which Kurt Ahrens, the racing driver, piloted across the ice about sixty years ago.
We can be curious.
And groove us as a warm-up, or better: cool-down with the matching clip by Stefan Bogner.
